    Wizard Library

    Post by Suzaku on Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:34 pm

    Analytical, wise and intelligent in battle, the Wizard defeats their enemies with the mighty power of magic from distance. They have the ability to cast powerful spells to attack multiple enemies.

    Info from various sources in the forums all condensed into one and some up to date experience.

    A few things to consider while playing this class.

    Wizard class advantages:
      *Long ranged
      *Spells don't miss or fail
      *Killing multiple targets
      *Crowd control
      *High magic defense
      *Fast movement speed

    Wizard class disadvantages:
      *Weak physical defense
      *Low evasion
      *Low HP
      *Slow normal attack
      *Lack of stuns
      *Targeted a lot

    Too scared to die? Turn back now. Too dependent on stuns? Turn back now. Prefer a melee class? Turn back now.
    Those of you bold enough to take on the challenges of the wizard class, read on!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------Skills------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Properties
      *Fire
      *Thunder
      *Ice
      *Poison
      *None

    Priority
      *- Optional
      *+ Low - Skill level 1 sufficient
      *++ High - Max skill level necessary

    ================================================Wizard================================================

    Fire Bolt
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 1
    Range: 1600
    Cool Down: 6 seconds
    Recharge CP
    Priority: -

    Starter skill. It deals minor damage to a single target with a chance of DoT(damage over time) per second for 5 seconds. Only useful for charging CP. I recommend not investing points to get it to level 5.

    Training Staff
    Passive Skill
    Learning Level: 2
    Priority: ++

    Increases spell damage, aka magic attack. This is your passive skill that boosts your damage, so I suggest investing on it.

    Mana Booster
    Passive Skill
    Learning Level: 3
    Priority: -

    Increases MP recovery rate. Maxing this would require no MP pot usage to the extent of about level 30. After that when you do continuous spell casting you will lose more MP.
    I don't recommend getting this skill. Don't be cheap and use MP pots instead!

    Wind Blow
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 5
    Range: 1600
    Cool Down: 7 seconds
    Uses CP
    Priority: ++

    Your first AoE spell. It's a bit on the weak side, but since it's your second spell it's useful in the beginning. The small range for the AoE makes it almost useless in PvE, but in wars this skill contributes a lot of damage to your overall ranking.

    Training Light Armor
    Passive Skill
    Learning Level:6
    Priority: -

    Increases your physical and magical defense. I recommend increasing this skill due to your squishiness. It'll save you a lot of potion money. If you choose to save your skill points instead, playing a wizard is still doable, but obviously you'll be more susceptible to damage.

    Advanced Mind
    Active Buff Skill
    Learning Level: 9
    Range: 1000
    Cool Down: 6 seconds
    Priority: -

    Increases the target's maximum MP. Not entirely useful, so I don't recommend investing points on it.
    If you want to use this skill, don't get Mana Booster.

    Time Bomb
    God Authority
    Learning Level: 10
    Range: 1800
    Cool Down: 60 seconds
    RvR only
    Priority: ++

    Unfortunately your second AoE spell is for wars only. But don't worry! This is one of the most useful spell in your arsenal during RvR. It reduces the enemies' (up to 11 enemies per skill use) movement speed significantly in a wide area for 5 seconds. Their speed is reduced to almost nothing, giving you and your allies time to kill each one of them. Also, after 5 seconds, it surprises your targets with a huge damage based on your magic attack. It rakes up damage points for your overall ranking, so I suggest using it every single time you are able.

    Lightning Bolt
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 13
    Range: 1550
    Cool Down: 6 seconds
    Reharge CP
    Priority: ++

    Second CP recharge spell. Now we're talking! This spell does decent damage in the beginning, and carries on at later levels with a huge jump from 165 base damage to 314 from levels 3 to 4.

    Foot Chain
    Active Debuff Skill
    Learning Level: 17
    Range: 1900-2100 (Increases by level)
    Cool Down: 25-21 seconds (Decreases by level)
    Uses CP
    Priority: +

    Decreases movement speed of the target for 10 seconds. It might not be directly useful in PvE, but in wars and PvP it's extremely useful. People rushing the crystals can be stalled by this skill. Also, running away can be easier by planting this skill on your chaser.
    It's usefulness in PvE comes in kiting. Using this with the Levitate skill allows you to kite monsters will minimal damage received (monsters run back to their original spot after a while of running without catching you). But since the cooldown is over 20 seconds, it won't be used often outside of wars.
    Also, this skill does damage even though the description doesn't say. I believe the damage to be your auto attack going secretly as you cast the spell. Knowing this, casting this spell at a dying target prevents them from moving or further attacking you (if the damage from the spell kills it). It's a good finisher in leveling if you want to save potions, since normally targets can still attack you while casting.

    Levitate
    Active Toggle Buff Skill
    Learning Level: 17
    Cool Down: 2 seconds
    Priority: ++

    This trademark Wizard skill allows you to float in the air, making you look cool or creepy (I've been told both). Also, this notorious skill increases your movement speed enough to get away from your die-hard fans that try to kill you. But it does come with a huge mp leaking price. I recommend not using this skill while leveling, but always have it activated in wars.
    The description says that this skill gets canceled after getting attacked. It's a complete lie! As of closed beta, this skill is only canceled if you turn it off, or if you die, not when you get attacked.

    Novice Ride
    Passive Skill
    Learning Level: 20
    Priority: -

    Pretty self explanatory. Gained by every class, you can ride mounts to make running a bit easier.
    You can get by with just running around if you don't want to spend 100,000 gold on getting this skill in addition to buying mounts every time they run out. You can always just use Levitate, since it's only 12% less movement speed at skill level 1, and 10% less at skill level 2 etc.

    ===============================================Sorcerer===============================================

    Artemis's Bless
    God Authority
    Learning Level: 20
    Cool Down: 900 seconds
    Usable anywhere
    Priority: ++

    A self-buff that increases your magic attack for 1 minute. Extremely useful if you invest points on it, since the cool down time decreases by 120 seconds each skill level up.
    In RvRs, use this with the upcoming skill at level 29, Frozen Protect to have more survivability while your at your highest peak of magic attack. Also, use Time Bomb Demi-god skill for your highest damaging attack.

    Since the description fails in game, I'll provide the actual stats:
    Skill Level 1 - 20 Lvl Requirement; 900s Cool Down; 50% Bonus to Magic Attack
    Skill Level 2 - 24 Lvl Requirement; 780s Cool Down; 55% Bonus to Magic Attack
    Skill Level 3 - 28 Lvl Requirement; 660s Cool Down; 60% Bonus to Magic Attack
    Skill Level 4 - 32 Lvl Requirement; 540s Cool Down; 65% Bonus to Magic Attack
    Skill Level 5 - 36 Lvl Requirement; 420s Cool Down; 70% Bonus to Magic Attack

    Ice Needle
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 21
    Range: 1650
    Cool Down: 6 seconds
    Uses CP
    Priority: ++

    Powerful and fast casting. Good finisher for dying people running away in wars.
    Since people constantly die in RvRs and targets change within seconds, this skill can be almost spammable every time you switch targets.
    In leveling, it speeds up killing with its high damage and speed.

    Ice Dagger
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 25
    Range: 1650
    Cool Down: 6 seconds
    Recharge CP
    Priority: ++

    Your third CP recharge skill. A bit on the slow side, but so far it does the most damage out of your every skill. A good skill to use to start attacking someone in wars, for the high damage startles them and causes them to run around.

    Frozen Protect
    Active Self Buff Skill
    Learning Level: 29
    Cool Down: 90 seconds
    Recharge CP
    Priorty: ++

    This self buff absorbs up to 1000 damage (increases per skill level) for 60 seconds. Since your HP is only a little over 1000 at level 29, think of this as your second life. One of the most useful skills in every scenario.
    The skill description is bugged from level 3 and on. At level 3 it says 1500 damage, but it's really 1600. Level 4 it says 1750, but it's really 2000. Level 5 says 2000, it will probably be 2400/500, not sure yet until the level cap rises.

    Damage Blocking
    Passive Skill
    Learning Level: 34
    Priority: +

    Increases your physical defense significantly. 70 defense might seem like a lot at lower levels, but once you get to this level it's barely useful. If you want the extra defense, go for it, but if not, it's only a couple of points difference anyways.

    ==============================================Necromancer==============================================

    Steam Shower
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 41
    Range: 1900
    Cool Down: 20 seconds
    Recharge CP (?)

    Reduces the movement speed of up to 15 enemies (increases per skill level) in front of you by 80%. Whether or not this skill deals damage is currently unknown.

    Venom Silence
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 44
    Range: 300
    Cool Down: 60 seconds
    Recharge CP (?)

    Deals damage to all adjacent (?) to the target and silences them temporarily. Uncertain whether or not this is AoE. Silenced enemies are unable to use any skills. Not all monsters can be silenced.

    Lightning Shock
    Active Skill
    Learning Level: 47
    Range: 1900
    Cool Down: 15 seconds
    Recharge CP (?)

    AoE that inflicts both damage and confusion (up to 3 enemies). Confused enemies are unable to move.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------Strategies-----------------------------------------------------------------------

    PvE

    Kiting

    The simplest and cheapest strategy that anyone can come up with instinctively when playing mage classes. But, in this game the monsters can't magically walk through obstacles like some games, meaning you can play around with them!

    PvP/RvR

    Maximizing Damage Output

    Sniping
    Pretty much all you do is look for a cliff that is next to a busy passage and stand there, shooting enemies down with your spells. Of course people below can shoot you back, so be careful. Initial targets that run away and escapes your grasp are to ignore. Tab a new target to attack, for the main purpose of this is to survive more but put out more damage.

    Maximizing Kills

    Silent but Deadly
    Creep behind a strong melee character, preferably gladiator *coughDanYucough*, and kill the enemies while hiding behind your meat shield bulldozing enemies.

    Maximizing Crystal "Get," "Lay," and "Return"

    I'm a Defender! - Requires good gear and a daring attitude
    Have a shield and a one handed sword (one handed staff if you'd like, but you will attract more attention with it than the sword) ready for your other set of weapon (Pressing Z will switch weapons). Make sure your gear is suitable for this or else you're just throwing your life away. Have speed as enchants and vitality or HP for more survivability.
    Happy crystal grabbing with your shield and the Frozen Protect skill, as well as Levitate. Feel free to slow down your fans with Foot Chain and Time Bomb.

    Maximizing Rank

    Suicide - Not recommended
    Throw yourself in the mercy of Assassins. Assassination would most likely follow if you're near crystals with Assassins, or near stupid Assassins that waste their skills on Mages.
    Since this is only for fame, it's kind of worthless and stupid. But people do them. Be warned that if you do not get assassinated, you just wasted your time.

    The light armor skill doesn't really affect PvP that much, but it still does. But in RvR it makes a difference. And thx xD

    That's why I'm not sure Very Happy I mean the description with the United States is a lot more interesting.

    Probably a prediction, it will rain in the US some time after that was translated Exclamation (j/k hehe)
    I received a lot of those United States, Afghanistan, Iraq, Hong Kong, and I think Taiwan translations back when I was playing Luna and the KR test server. Weird stuff.

    Lol those are some nice translations!
    Anyway, updated skill names based on ob changes so far. Fly in the Air changed to Levitate. Actually sounds more legit this time lol.
